Position Available

 

One NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Center for Cardiovascular Sciences at the Albany Medical College. Projects involve the use of cardiac stem cells for repair of the infarcted myocardium. The lab uses multidisciplinary approaches that include biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and genetic analysis through the modulation of mouse models. Therefore, the successful candidate must be willing to work with and handle mice, and have extensive experience, particularly with regard to the myocardial injury induced by ischemia/reperfusion, and small animal heart functional assessment with echocardiography or hemodynamic studies with pressure-volume measurements in a mouse model.

 

We are looking for only self-motivated individual to become involved in the exciting and challenging environment of the laboratory. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a major role for the expansion of the laboratory, and will be exposed to many cutting-edge technologies in the cell and molecular cardiology. The successful applicant must be able to work individually as well as collaborating with other investigators. The duties of the successful candidate will be to develop and conduct research projects in the laboratory in one or more areas through the utilization and modulation of mouse models in both in vitro and in vivo settings.  MD or PhD in Cell Biology/Physiology/Pathology or related field is preferred.
